Biography
Dr.Pillai received his B.Pharm (1965) and M.Pharm (1967) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, India and MSc (1981) and PhD (1984) from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He was a professor of Pharmaceutics, at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan and at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad from 1998-2009 as professor and Director of the School of Pharmacy. While in Trinidad, He also served as a member of the Drug Advisory committee, Ministry of Health, Government of Trinidad & Tobago, an honorary appointment by the Minister of Health. He represented Trinidad at the PAHO/WHO sponsored conferences on "Pharmaceutical education in the Caribbean" in Barbados, Bahamas, Buenos Aires and Montevideo. He alsosupervised the research work of 14 post graduate students and four PhD students.
Research Interest
His area of research include development of analytical methods for drug analysis in biofluids for the study of Pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism and for stereoselective drug disposition; nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems for anticancer, anti-inflammatory agents and antibiotics and evaluation of bioequivalence of generic drug product.
