Alain L Fymat is a medical-physical scientist and an educator who was educated at the Universities of Bordeaux and Paris-Sorbonne, France, and the University of California at Los Angeles. He is the current President/CEO and Professor at the International Institute of Medicine & Science. He was formerly Professor of Radiology, Radiological Sciences, Radiation Medicine (Oncology), Critical Care Medicine, and Physics at several U.S. and European Universities. He has extensively published (~350 scholarly publications) and lectured in several national and international academic, professional, governmental and industrial venues. He is a a Board member of several institutions, Honorable Editor of International Journals of “Cancer Prevention & Current Research”, “Nanomedicine Research”, “Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology” “Open Access Journal of Surgery' and Editor of International Journals of” Nanomedicine”, “Nanobiotechnology”, “Tumor Medicine & Prevention”, “Nanomedicine & Nanoscience Research”, “Cancer Therapy and Oncology”, “Cancer Research & Clinical Oncology (Scientific Synergy Journals)” and “Biomedical Journal of Scientific and Technical Research”.

His current research interests lie at the interface between science and medicine (precision medicine, nanobiotechnology, nanomedicine, genetics/epigenetics/ecogenetics)., and drug delivery across the blood brain barrier).

Wei-Chiang Shen is currently John A. Biles Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. Dr. Shen's research interests focus on the development of novel systems for improving peptide and protein drug delivery. Current research projects in Dr. Shen's laboratory at USC include (1) recombinant fusion proteins for improving peptide and protein drug delivery, and (2) cell-penetrating peptides for cytosolic or nuclear delivery of macromolecular drugs. Dr. Shen has published 150 papers in different areas of biomedical sciences, including biochemistry, cell biology, pharmaceutics, and immunology. He is an inventor or co-inventor of 16 issued and 2 pending US patents in drug delivery and a co-author of the textbook Immunology for Pharmacy Students and a co-editor of the book Antibody-Drug Conjugates – the 21st Century Magic Bullets for Cancer. Dr. Shen was elected to Fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) in 1992 and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) in 2000, and was the recipient of the Grand Prize of Eurand Award for Outstanding Novel Research in Oral Drug Delivery from Controlled Release Society in 2002.

Shawn (Xiaotian) Yin received his Ph. D. in Solid-State Chemistry from University of Waterloo, Canada. He then completed his Post Doctoral fellowship at Department of Materials Sciences and Engineering, Cornell University. Currently, Dr. Yin is a Senior Principal Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. His research interests include amorphous and nanomaterials for drug delivery, pharmaceutical polymorphic form studies, API crystal form in drug product, physical characterizations of pharmaceutical substances and powder X-ray diffraction applications in pharmaceutical sciences.

Volkmar Weissig, Sc.D., Ph.D. is a Tenured Full Professor of Pharmacology and Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Weissig received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry and his postdoctoral Sc.D. degree in Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the Martin-Luther University in Halle (Germany). Combined he completed several years of postdoctoral fellowships at the Cardiology Research Center in Moscow (Russia), at the Academic Department of Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London (UK), at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the Czechoslovakian Academy of Science in Prague (CSFR), at the College of Pharmacy and the College of Medicine at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL and at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Before joining the faculty at Midwestern University, Dr. Weissig was an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Dr. Weissig holds 16 patents and he has published 98 research papers, review articles and book chapters, mostly in the area of nano drug delivery systems. He also edited and published 8 books. He serves as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Liposome Research and he is member of several other Editorial Boards. In July 2009 Dr. Weissig was inducted into the World Technology Network as a Fellow. In October 2014 Dr. Weissig was elected President of the World Mitochondria Society.

Dr. Weissig’s major research interests lie in the areas of Mitochondrial Medicine and Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology. In particular, his laboratory has pioneered the design and development of mitochondria-targeted nano drug delivery systems, which have opened new strategies for mitochondrial gene therapy, for apoptosis-based anticancer chemotherapies and for controlling and manipulating the redox status of mammalian mitochondria.

Vladimir P. Torchilin is a University Distinguished Professor and Director, Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, Northeastern University, Boston. He graduated from the Moscow University with MS in Chemistry, and obtained there his Ph.D. and D.Sc. in Polymer Chemistry and Chemistry of Physiologically Active Compounds in 1971 and 1980, respectively. In 1991, Dr. Torchilin joined MGH/Harvard Medical School as the Head of Chemistry Program, Center for Imaging and Pharmaceutical Research, and Associate Professor of Radiology.

Dr. Torchilin is with Northeastern University. He was the Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1998-2008. His research interests include liposomes, lipid-core micelles, biomedical polymers, drug delivery and targeting, pharmaceutical nanocarriers, experimental cancer immunology. He has published more than 350 original papers (which received more than 30,000 citations), more than 150 reviews and book chapters, wrote and edited 10 books, including Immobilized Enzymes in Medicine, Targeted Delivery of Imaging Agents, Liposomes, Nanoparticulates as Pharmaceutical Carriers, Biomedical Aspects of Drug Targeting, and holds more than 40 patents. He is Editor-in-Chief of Current Drug Discovery Technologies and of Drug Delivery and on the Editorial Boards of many journals including Journal of Controlled Release (Review Editor), Bioconjugate Chemistry, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Molecular Pharmaceutics.

Professor Hyungil Jung has completed his Ph.D. from Cornell University and his postdoctoral from California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Since then he had received various awards in biotechnology field such as “Outstanding Contributions”, “Best Contribution Award”, “Excellence in Research Award”, “The 31st Industry-academic Cooperation Award”, “Best technology Award”, “Best Teaching Award” and many more because of his outstanding research ability in biotechnology field. Dr. Jung has also recently registered his company, Juvic Inc. to further expand his research and to introduce novel microneedle based pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical products to the market.

Janina has completed her Bachelor and Master degree in Düsseldorf (Germany) before she relocated to Sydney (Australia) in 2013. She worked as a research assistant for 2 years at the Centre of Advanced Macromolecular Design (CAMD) at the University of New South Wales, focusing on the development of new stimulus-responsive materials for ‘smart’ drug delivery systems. Since August 2015, Janina is undertaking her PhD with the focus on the delivery of novel organicarsenical anti-cancer agents within polymeric nanoparticle formulations. She particularly investigates her arsenic containing drug-delivery systems towards sarcoma cells.

Shayan F Lahiji has completed his BS and MS from Yonsei University (South Korea) and is currently doing his PhD at the same university. Because of his outstanding contribution to science and new novel delivery systems, he has been awarded in different fields of science for “The best poster presenter” from 3rd world biotechnology conference, “The best research award” from Yonsei University and “The best academic poster” from BK21 PLUS Research Symposium and more. He has published papers in reputed journals such as “Scientific Reports” from Nature Publishing Group and “Biomaterials” from Elsevier.

Ilayda Acaroglu Degitz has completed her MsC from Yildiz Technical University in 2013 and has been continueing her PhD degree at Yeditepe University at Chemical Engineering Department since 2014. Ä°layda has been working on nanoparticles, magnetic nanoparticles, drug delivery systems, drug&polymer conjugates. She has published 2 papers about nanoparticles. She is working as a Teaching and Research asisstant at Yeditepe University
